Huzzah for the Hussars!

Will's hussars have arrived safely- thanks Will. They will form the first unit I will paint up for the Saschen-Vindow Ducal army. I have 2 squadrons of 10 figures to paint. I have not been successful with my last attempt to paint plastic figures . What advice would you give me? The figures have come with some of them undercoated in white. It seems to flake easily. I look forward to your ideas...

Your best bet is to go to The Miniatures Page and search the painting board for painting plastic figures. There are many discussions about the best way.

One thing is that plastic figures need to be washed to remove the 'mould release agent' that leaves a coat on the figures.

What I've seen various places is that you should always use acrylic paints rather than enamel paints . . . the former allow some flex; while the later flake off very easily.

For priming the figures I've seen recommendations for white glue as well as artists' gesso.

You might check out Stokes' "Duchy of Stollen" back posts since he does a lot with plastics and has written about it:
